I am a member of a Facebook community of women travelling solo. Members of the group post photos of their trips and share their adventures. They also support those in the group who are planning their first solo trip. They provide encouragement, tips for where to go and where to stay, ideas on what to pack and advice for all of those last minute snafus or disappointments.
Their words of encouragement when a hotel booking is not right or a tour is cancelled remind me that we need to be flexible, open to new possibilities and listen to our inner voice. We plan for weeks, sometimes months for the perfect trip. Our expectations may keep us from enjoying the simple pleasure of discovering the candle-lit piano concert in the medieval church right around the corner from our hotel.
Take the time to reset your expectations and enjoy what the new city has to offer.
Do you have a story about finding something unexpected when you abandoned your expectations? Share your story with our Toastmasters Club, TravelTalkers. First meeting is Thursday, September 29, at 6:30 pm Pacific. Register for the Zoom meeting link: https://tinyurl.com/TravelTalkersZoomLink
